This Changes Our Purpose
Sunday, April 19, 2026 • First Sunday / Communion
Rev. Julius Walls Jr., Pastor
Institutional African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church
Scripture
1 Corinthians 10:16–17 (NIV)
"Is not the cup of thanksgiving for which we give thanks a participation in the blood of Christ? And is not the bread that we break a participation in the body of Christ? Because there is one loaf, we, who are many, are one body."
Three Points
Point ONE
A Purpose That Is Revealed
The resurrection exposes who we are called to be
Point TWO
A Purpose That Is Relational
We are not saved alone — we are sent together
Point THREE
A Purpose That Is Revolutionary
Living out the resurrection in a world that needs it
Theme
The resurrection of Jesus Christ does not just change what we believe — it changes what we are for. We are not saved to sit still. We are saved and sent. On this First Sunday, the communion table is a reminder that our purpose is communal: one body, one loaf, one mission.
